Securing the Services of UK Immigration Lawyers

May 9th, 2012

For migrants who have come to the United Kingdom, there are a wide assortment of different challenges that are often faced on a daily basis. While some of these challenges may revolve around becoming accustomed to a different culture and learning how to integrate into society, other immigrants find themselves facing serious legal hurdles once they have arrived in the country. These issues are often quite complicated and difficult to understand, further adding to the frustration and confusion of dealing with such problems. For this reason, many immigrants secure the services of UK immigration lawyers, who provide expert guidance and advise on immigration matters.

Lawyers and solicitors who focus on immigration law have undergone specific training that relates to the process of immigration and understand the different requirements of migration for a wide assortment of individuals. Immigration to the United Kingdom is a complex process, with a wide assortment of different visas and working papers available to individuals who can demonstrate particular circumstances or scenarios to the government. Unfortunately, jumping through the hoops that certain visas require can be a taxing challenge.

Immigration lawyers work in tandem with their clients, allowing them to formulate a plan for dealing with their legal status in the country. While every client’s circumstance and situation is different, many immigration professionals routinely find themselves dealing with clients who no longer have the legal right to remain in the country. This can happen for a variety of different reasons, including the denial of a visa application or the refusal to renew an expired visa. In this instances, immigration lawyers can provide guidance regarding the next step and how to go about performing such requests in a legal manner.

Some immigrants are hesitant to work with UK immigration lawyers, as they are uncertain as to how the entire process will take place. In most cases, these law professionals are a great solution for those looking to understand a foreign system. Some immigration lawyers also have easy financing options available to their clients, allowing those who would otherwise be unable to afford the services of a law professional to work in coordination with such individuals.

Those looking to secure the services of an immigration lawyer or solicitor have a variety of different resources available to them. Many immigration professionals advertise in local periodicals and publications, while some lawyers may instead rely on word of mouth. Finding a qualified professional is often easier within immigrant communities, where many individuals have experience working with such lawyers. Inquiring for more information or advice in these local communities is often a great place to start the hunt for a qualified legal professional.

Spiritual Awareness and Avoiding The Slippery Slopes In Life

May 9th, 2012

By Yamaya Cruz

If you ask any artist, producer, or writer, they would say that almost every story has to have some kind of profound meaning. There has to be some sort of underlying principle or theme that resonates deeply with the soul. I can name dozens of movies that I absolutely love. However, the one that has the most spiritual meaning is the dark comedy classic “Gremlins.” Yes, the movie was brilliantly written with a moral message that warns people to avoid the slippery slopes in life.

It is unfortunate that most people don’t really learn one of life’s lessons, until they experience the dire consequences of their actions. Gizmo was a cute little creature that was discovered and purchased in China-Town. Everything was great until little Gizmo was brought to suburbia. Emerged in the perfect world, the owner got careless, and despite admonitions from the seller. He spilled water on little Gizmo. This created the multiplier effect where little Gizmo gave birth to four other Gizmos. Then, the owner fed the little Gizmos after midnight and all hell broke loose. The cute snuggly, little creatures turned into nasty, ugly, menacing Gremlins that wrecked havoc on the town. They were destroyed by lightness and thrived in the dark.

Everyday, we are warned. We have spiritual text such as the Bible and Odu that guide us through life. We pretty much know right from wrong. However, there are defining moments when our weaknesses get the best of us. We think that it is okay to let things slide. We believe that we can do the wrong thing, just once, and everything will be okay. But our weaknesses have a multiplier effect. We then start to attract people and create experiences that align with the worse parts of our selves. Then things escalate out of control. This results in utter and complete chaos.

Gizmo, as cute and adorable as he was, had the ability to turn into an ugly nasty Gremlin. The movie was not only a reflection of our society, but also a mockery of how we allow bad choices to turn us into monsters. We feel the pain of our choices when our worlds come crashing down. And we are faced with consequences of anarchy, war, and destruction. This is what happens when we are guided by our weaknesses. We gravitate toward the wrong people and situations that wreck havoc on our lives. The secret is to be aware. The Gremlins couldn’t survive in the dark and neither can our weaknesses. It is through awareness that allows us to avoid the slippery slope of life.

The Best Way To Learn French In Six Months

May 9th, 2012

French is truly the language of love, romance and elegance. Since the sixteenth century, European aristocracy all chose French as the language spoken in court regardless of their mother tongue. It is a language that evokes a sense of breeding and sophistication to those who speak it. The advancement of language studies now allows anyone to learn French very quickly. Here is the best way to learn French in six months or less:

1. Immersion

This is the sink or swim method of learning a language. This method is second to none for quickly gaining total fluency because, obviously, one has no choice but to learn and learn quickly. If it is at all possible, one should become immersed in the French culture by spending time in a French-speaking land. When one must communicate in French all day long, one will rapidly learn new words, hear correct grammar and pronunciation and is forced to read French. If traveling to a French-speaking land is not possible, one must form a type of forced immersion at home. The following six points must all be followed daily to carry out a home-setting method of immersion.

2. Formal Lessons

Attend a local community college French course or choose an online form of daily study. Also, many software programs are available for learning French. Whatever the method of choice, make a daily habit of attending the classes and working through the home study lessons. If one chooses to attend actual classes, one should still supplement the classes with daily home study. Spend no more than one hour each day studying French so that one’s brain is fresh and the study time remains enjoyable.

3. Watch & Listen

There are many websites and resources online that will let a person to watch French language television and listen to French radio. Simply type ‘French television and radio’ into a search engine and explore some of the options that come up. Watch no more than one hour of television each day. Listen to French music while working out or doing chores.

One will not understand the context, of course, but the opportunity to hear native pronunciation is priceless. Eventually one will be able to recognize words and even full sentences. This time must be spent in addition to the hour devoted to real study time. Learning any new language is likened to building blocks. This is one of the many blocks to carry out into the building of French fluency.

4. Label the House

This is an age-old practice of the best ways to learn French. It works and it works quickly. Using envelope labels, write out the names of all different pieces of furniture in the house as well as colors. Place these labels on their corresponding objects. Keep the labels small and at eye level so that they are visible without being annoying.

5. Find a French Friend

Most French-speaking people are more than honored and pleased to share their language with people. Finding a French-speaking friend to practice with is like having a personal tutor available for free. In addition, there is no better source for learning French culture than a French person. If there are no French-speaking people available to chat with, reach out across lands to find a pen pal.

Brain Yoga, or Who’s Driving your Mental Bus?

May 9th, 2012

I love the field of neuroplasticity. It’s so empowering. It basically states that your brain can be molded like plastic — and it can be reshaped and rewired by you.

Dr. Jeffrey Schwartz’s latest book, You Are Not Your Brain, written with Rebecca L. Gladding, M.D., is a great example. It’s in the area of what he calls self-directed neuroplasticity. In short, virtually any habit can be changed with the help of the four-step process he explains in his new book. You can now end your self-sabotage or any other poor habits. You can break free.

If you’re not your brain, who are you?

I interviewed Dr. Schwartz for my Hypnotic Gold members. This medical doctor, psychiatrist, and researcher exudes high-energy, has deep faith, and loves his work. He was adviser for Martin Scorsese’s film, Aviator, about Howard Hughes. Now Schwartz is helping people like you and me learn to rewire our brains so we can get the results we want and become the people we long to be.

At the heart of his breakthrough approach is the understanding that you are something other than the material. That’s why you can be separate from your brain, mindful of it, and actually rewrite it. Hence the title of his book.

Dr. Schwartz is a man of science, wrote a mesmerizing science-based book in 2002 called, The Mind and the Brain: Neuroplasticity and the Power of Mental Force, and yet he is also a spiritual man, and isn’t afraid to say so.

He doesn’t declare where thoughts come from, but suggests some of them serve you and others are “deceptive brain messages.” The latter you can learn to hear but not obey.

I told Dr. Schwartz that in most of my books, such as The Attractor Factor, I call limiting beliefs what he calls deceptive brain messages. Both are thoughts that don’t serve your highest goals.

You Attract What You Believe

Dr. Schwartz explained that in his work with OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) patients, brain scans revealed that they were obeying messages firing in their brains that were hurting them. It wasn’t a problem with the patient, though, it was a problem with their brain. With new skills, they could learn to retrain their brains. (Dr. Schwartz wrote about OCD in his first book, Brain Lock.)

But this is true for all of us. Our brains may not always be helping. The message for us is that no matter what the struggle, you can change it. It’s learning how. Dr. Schwartz’s four steps are a universal solution that apply to everything from BlackBerry addiction to compulsive shopping to bulimia to junk food addiction, cheating, procrastination, to how to stop going back to your toxic ex, and more.

In short, here are the four steps:

Step 1: Relabel. Identify deceptive brain messages and the uncomfortable sensations; call them what they really are.

Step 2: Reframe. Change your perception of the importance of the deceptive brain messages; say why these thoughts, urges, and impulses keep bother you. (“It’s not ME, it’s just my BRAIN!”)

Step 3: Refocus. Direct your attention toward an activity or mental process that is wholesome and productive–even while the false and deceptive urges, thoughts, impulses, and sensations are still present and bothering you.

Step 4: Revalue. Clearly see the thoughts, urges, and impulses for what they are: sensations caused by deceptive brain messages that are not true and that have little to no value.

For the details, you can go to the book’s site (right here) or just get the book from Amazon or wherever you buy books. (It’s also on audio.). The book is a breeze to read, and you can grasp his steps easily. I highly recommend it.

The point is, you can exercise your body, and you can exercise your mind. I’ll call it Brain Yoga for now. This information teaches you to be the pilot of your brain, and not a passenger letting it fly you into walls. Books and research by such neuroscience pioneers as Dr. Schwartz excite and inspire me. They prove that you can have what you want with persistence, intention, and strategy.

That said, what do you want for you? Are you ready to take action right now?

PS – Pack a lunch and go visit Dr. Schwartz’s info packed site on neuroscience and conflict resolution at http://westallen.typepad.com/brains_on_purpose/about_jeffrey_m_schwartz_.html

Trip to Kuwait

May 9th, 2012

Kuwait is one of the Middle East countries, with well developed oil-based economy and lots of tourist attractions. Ancient fortresses, mosques, maddrassahs and monuments are combined with modern amenities of a modern Arab country. Kuwait is one of the oldest areas of human settlements. Archaeologists have found a number of places, where ancient people lived, starting from the 5th century B.C. Here stood the cities of the Sumerians, Babylonians, Persians and Greeks. The ancient trade routes went through this territory, and unique ancient cultures developed here. According to some historical materials, the country was not always so dry and deserted, as it is today.

Kuwait City is the only major city in the country. The ancient fortress, which once served as a haven for traders and Bedouins, turned into a thriving commercial, cultural and entertainment center in the region in a matter of some fifty years. The city itself is a colorful mix of old Islamic traditions and cutting-edge architecture, and its attractions are mostly young.

The tourists find it interesting to visit Kuwait National Museum, famous for its collection of archeological and ethnographic items, which is considered one of the best collections of Islamic art in the world. No less interesting is the Tareg-Rajab private museum, the Islamic Art Museum, the Museum and Cultural Foundation of the Bedouins, the Al-Khalifa mosque, the enormous Great Mosque with a 74-meter high minaret, the mosque of Ibn-Hammes, the famous Kuwait Towers with their spires pointing at heaven and observation decks overlooking the city. One of the most popular sights is the palace of the Emir called Old Seif Palace. Of special interest are such important places as the building of the Stock Exchange, the British Council library in Al Arabi Street, the building of the Central Bank, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other administrative offices.

Kuwait Tower known as the Tower of Liberation is the highest in the Middle East. The Beit Lothan cultural center, the Al Kurayn museum and memorial in honor of Kuwaiti resistance fighters, the Research Center on Gulf Road with the largest aquarium in the Middle East, the Museum of Science and Natural History and the Maritime Museum attract thousands of tourists, who want to get acquainted with the culture of Kuwait and learn more about different periods of its life.

To the south-west from Safat region, there is the Kuwait University and its campuses, as well as one of the major industrial areas of the country. Salmiya district is a residential and commercial center of the capital. Many houses have been turned into shops and restaurants here, and all the streets are full of life. This part of the city is known for noisy multi-national markets and eateries, where all that we have on this planet can be bought and sold. Here one can also go to sea with a team of pearl divers to observe their work and participate in collecting pearls. Further along the coast there stretches a whole series of beaches, considered some of the most beautiful and largest in Kuwait. They are famous for their relaxed atmosphere and noticeably greener than the rest of coasts and stretches from Al-Bidaa district to Kuwait Towers. Nearby is the famous Kuwait Rink, one of the largest rinks in the Middle East. The Musical Fountain is located within the ‘green belt’ of the capital. In Al-Shukh district, there is the Tourist Garden, famous for its green space, an abundance of recreational facilities and an amphitheater in the Roman style.

Failaka Island has been inhabited since the Stone Age, and now it is known for an archaeological park, ancient temples and numerous sites of excavations. Due to the new discoveries of the ruins of the Portuguese and British forts, the island has again reestablished itself as the prominent attraction of Kuwait.

The city of Al-Ahmadi was built in the middle of the 20th century and named in honor of Sheikh Ahmad. It is known for the huge Exhibition Centre, a museum of oil industry, and a small green park in the sands of the desert.

How Do You Get Kids To Run

May 9th, 2012

By Gordon Zwillenberg

I was training for the marathon in Houston, Texas. In mid-December, I was practising my Saturday 24 mile run. As I started along the bike path, I discovered them.

The little girl was about 12 years old. She was racing onwards of her parents, a big smile on her face. We crossed paths again on the other side (five miles up) and that little girl was still smiling.

Kids love to run. You can provide them the opportunity, and kids will run.

How Can You Get Kids Started?

Children are constantly running. The play games at school that involve running, like soccer and basketball. Since kids run at school, they don’t have to warm up to running.

If the parents run; then, your children will run with you. You can take them to the park and the paths that you use. Kids want to be involved with what their parents are doing.

What About Fun Runs?

Fun Runs are a wonderful get-away from training. Most fun runs feature a separate run for the kids. The awards for the fastest runner cover the kids’ age group.

Every fun run has something special. At the end of the race, you and the kids possibly could consume ice cream, cookies, cakes and other treats. There is all the time something good to eat.

A fun run is a wonderful way to encounter the other parents and their children. There is a lot to talk about, before and after the race. It’s a great way to make running fun.

How Can You Keep Kids Excited About Running?

To keep your kids running, you could:

1. Run with your children, consistently. Whether it is a Saturday run or a before dinner race around the block, by doing it regular, your kids will stay excited about running.

2. Form a kids running group. When children run with their friends, it’s much more interesting. Talking makes the run go faster.

3. Comprise of Special Running Days. It could be breakfast at someone’s house or an evening pool party. By including fun events, your children will look forward to running.

By getting involved, you will step-up your kid’s interest in running. You can even have a new running partner.

How Can You Work With Your Kids?

It can be the point in time for that Saturday run; but, it’s raining or cold, it can be the point in time for a rain-check. It’s no fun to run in bad weather, even if Mom and Dad do it. It’s a good day to play games and watch television.

Keep your runs, brief. Children have short attention spans. A long winded run will not keep kids focused and might be too much for them.

Make an effort not to overdo it with them. Too much running could cause a knee injury. Take it slow, and limit your races to 5-K events.

What Else Can You Do?

Just remember, as a parent, your children look up to you. Have them do, what you might exercise. Talk with your children, why you run and how you got started. Kids want to know, too.

You Can Get Your Kids to Run, Too!

Just like that little smiling girl, you can get your children running, too! Take them to a fun run and train together. By generating running fun, your kids will continue to run.

Good luck!

HTC Is Fighting A Lot Of Economic Problems

May 9th, 2012

HTC is one of the supreme makers of cellular phones on earth and it is among the leading Taiwanese businesses. We can say that it is a genuine Asian Tiger when it comes to financial activities.

This company began this year in force but brand new statistics demonstrate the fact that things do not appear too good for the business. The start of April marked a problem about the new statistical data on the profits of the business. The earnings dropped intensely in the first part of the year and they are 70% lower when compared with the last quarter of 2011. It is correct that the company has spent a lot in its new range of phones. Things could get better in the second part of the calendar year when all the new models of the company will be on the market. If 1 or 2 models become mobile phone deals in the market, the problems for HTC could vanish.

Hopes are high concerning the new android phone called HTC One X. This is the crown jewel of the organization for this year and a lot of time and effort was put in the continuing development of this model. The level of competition is big on the market and the model has to take on all kinds of other models from Apple, Samsung and Nokia.

Personally I think, HTC should focus on the advertising part of their business. They already have got a solid cellphone range and they just have to be promoted well in order to make profits. The brand new models need a lively and aggressive marketing campaign and cash should flow with ease.

The economic department of HTC should think about making an economic plan for the coming many weeks in which they should consist of a large sum for ads. Marketing is the key when endorsing brand new items.

Difficulties could continue if HTC does not manage to improve its liquidity. Currently the company has put a lot of money in numerous assets and if it can not pay its debts in time, they could suffer a lot. We might even see a solvency problem in the coming months. HTC is now on the edge and the shareholders must show their interests in turning the company to large profits. Presently the problems are not too big, but there are signs of economic issues in the horizon. HTC has to plan carefully the next few months and all things will be good for the future.

Decorating Your Summer Home

May 9th, 2012

Your summer home is an oasis and a change of pace from everyday living. This is the home where the dog can jump on the sofa or the children can eat in front of the television. A summer home should be a relaxed, comfortable living space where home furnishings and homewares do not have to be perfect but must be cozy and functional.

Paint unifies a space

Whether you’ve inherited an adorable beach cottage or purchased a small home on the lake, your summer home comes to life with new paint. No matter how old the furniture or how stained and soiled your wooden floors, paint will give a new, clean and attractive element to your summer home.

By painting the walls a neutral, light colour, you can lighten and unify the entire home. If you have wood panelling in your summer home, you can paint it to eliminate the dark wood tones. Paint your floors with outdoor deck paint, and your summer home will go from shabby to shabby chic styling.

Outdoor furniture that might have come with your summer home can feel clean and bright by applying a coat or two of paint. Perfection is not desired in a summer home. Let the old paint show through, and don’t worry about dents or minor damage that gives your summer home character and personality.

Find storage

One complaint of many summer home owners is the lack of storage in their home. Most summer homes by beaches, lakes or ski resorts are small, so scale your furnishings down and look for homewares that can serve as a storage unit while being attractive and cosy. An old armoire or wardrobe can add charm to your décor and a ton of usable storage space. Don’t forget the top of your armoire or wardrobe. Pile up a collection of extra blankets and colourful quilts for cold nights or display a collection of vintage board games for the nights when you want to relax by the fire or play games out on the sun porch.

Add color pops

Even if you’ve painted your summer home a neutral colour, it doesn’t mean the interior space needs to be bland. Use colour punches to bring life and vibrancy to your summer home. Bright reds, purples, blues and greens are great counterpoints to whites, tans and off white walls and floors. A colourful pillow, vase, afghan or throw rug will give your summer home charm and visual appeal.

YOUnique – Honoring Your Reality – and Everyone Else’s!

May 8th, 2012

How are you different from every other human being on this planet? While it is true that we’re all here sharing the experience of being human, and that gives us commonality, we are each totally unique beings having our own unique experience of life.

Think about it. You can see this truth in the simplest of things. Some people love the beach while others love the mountains. Some people love Chinese food, while others hate it. Some people love modern art; others hate it. Some people like trucks while others prefer sports cars. We are all having our own unique experience in life – leading to things we like and don’t like, that we think are good or bad – sourced out of the totally unique entity we each are.

How is it that you determine what’s true for you? Have you ever thought about that? Why do you prefer the beach or the mountains? Why do you love or hate Chinese food? Why do you love or hate modern art? Why do you prefer trucks or sports cars? Or why do you not care for any of these things at all? How do you know these things? Where does that knowledge come from?

One of the most powerful stories I was ever told, and one which helped me embrace my unique truth and experience in life, I call “The Analogy of The Tongue.” I know that may sound a little gross, but it is memorable.

Years ago a good friend of mine saw that I was struggling to really embrace who I was as a minister, an evolutionary advocate, and a spiritual conduit. I didn’t really know what was evolving through me at that time. In the model in which I had grown up, and the life I was living at that time, it didn’t make any sense. I didn’t have any context or precedence for it.

So he said this to me:

He asked me to name a food I do not like. I told him eggplant. He said, “OK, why do you not like eggplant?” I said “Because it’s gushy, mushy, usually gray in color, and has a paste-like taste to it. There is nothing about it for me to like.” He said “Great. Now, what if I told you everybody else is eating it, would you then eat it?” I said, “A lot of other people do like and eat it, and I still do not eat it. Therefore, no.” He said “OK, great.

Now, what if I told you you should eat it, because it’s good for you and it’s the right thing to do. Then would you eat it? Might you like it then?” I said, “No, I don’t care what you say about it, I know I don’t like it and don’t want to eat it.” He said, “Good.”

He went on to say “Now, is this something you would purchase, prepare, and serve dinner guests?” And I said “No way. I would not serve them something I myself do not like. In fact, I wouldn’t even know if it was good or not anyhow. So, no, I would not serve it to guests at my house for dinner.” Then he said, “Is there anything I or anyone could do to make you like and eat eggplant?” I said “No, I just don’t like it.”

He said “Great. Your purpose in life, and all things in life, is just like this. It’s that simple.” And he was, and is, so right. Your purpose is innate in you, as are your preferences for food. You like some things and you don’t like other things. You won’t try to like and eat eggplant because everyone else does, or because someone tells you you should, or because someone else asks for it.

So don’t try to force yourself into SOMEONE ELSE’S TRUTH! Eat and serve others what you know and like – YOUR truth. Anything else is a disservice to yourself and others. It’s not authentic!

You have a tongue, or a taste, for everything that is true for you. And this includes God. How do you know what God is for you? How do you know which religion or path or philosophy is “the truth?” You know because you test it against your own internal “truth meter.” You are always automatically asking yourself “Does this seem true to me? Does this feel right to me? Do I like this? Do I want more of this?” We do this with everything – and so does everybody else. This is how we find our truth – including the truth for us when it comes to God.

If each person has his or her own truth about life and the world, their own unique experience, then there really is no truth – EXCEPT – and this is really important – EXCEPT what’s true FOR YOU. Truth is a personal thing. Truth is created by you, for you. No one can tell you what’s true for you. And vice versa – you cannot tell others what’s true for them. Although, of course, lots of people try.

It’s important to realize that your truth ultimately comes from within you, not from some source outside. And, just as importantly, realize this is true for everyone else too. Just because something makes complete and total sense for you, doesn’t mean it makes complete and total sense for everyone else, or anyone else for that matter. Just like you, everyone has their own unique experience and perspective of the world. And just like you, they believe what they believe, and they like what they like, and don’t like what they don’t like, because that’s what is true FOR THEM.

We live in a community of many levels: from the family; to the neighborhood; to the town; to the city; to the state; to the nation; to the planet. We all have a role in the functioning of the community, at one or many levels, and it’s essential we each play our authentic, inspired role, and that we each know, own, and share our unique truth. At the same time, we must allow others to play their role, and own, and share their unique truth. Whatever that may be and however that may look.

Try this:

Take a moment to reflect on what’s true for you and how it’s absolutely unique for you. Think about how this is true for everyone else on the planet. Ask yourself “Do I honor my truth and determine it for myself? Or do I bow to external authority and tend to believe what others say is true?” Are there opportunities or areas where you can more greatly empower YOUR truth?

And just as important, ask yourself “Do I allow and honor the unique truth that others have? Or do I more often try to impose my reality and truth on them?” Are there areas where you could more greatly honor and respect the unique truth of others as THEIR truth?

If you can really get this, you will be free – free to fully be yourself, and free to allow others to be fully themselves.

Congratulations – you are one step closer to your mojo!
